What families tell us
The families we support, the coordinators who refer to us, and the people who work here.
My brother had been through three agencies before MMD. What changed was consistency. The same support professional comes, she knows his routine, and she knows when something is off before I do. That is the whole thing for us.
I had not had a full weekend off in four years. The respite team met us twice before they started so my son was not meeting a stranger on day one. That mattered more than I expected.
As a support coordinator I refer to a lot of providers. MMD answer the phone, they tell me honestly when they cannot staff a case, and the paperwork comes back complete. That is rarer than it should be.
They did not try to change how our daughter does things. They asked what she already manages on her own and built around protecting that. She is doing more for herself now than a year ago.
The office rang me before I had to ring them. When our regular DSP was out sick they had cover arranged the same morning and told me who was coming and when.
I started as a DSP with no experience in this field. The training was real training, not a video, and there was always someone to call. Three years on I am still here.
Would you share your experience?
